Uncharted games offered real adventures in majestic environments and Nathan Drake was practically a modern version of Indiana Jones. The focus was on the action-packed moments where Drake had to do cool things instead of looking great. And, as Tom Holland says, the upcoming movie might have a slightly wrong focus. Or at least the Dutch acting effort. GQ got to speak to Holland regarding his press tour of Cherry and the movie Uncharted came out and in the interview, Holland said he’s not really happy with his performance as Nathan Drake. This is because he was focusing on looking great more than anything. Holland is now quoted for the movie below.
Once you start worrying about ‘Do I look good in this shot? “Acting becomes something other than playing a character. I think there are elements of my performance in Uncharted where I kind of fell under my mantra of being” I want to look good now. I want this to be my great moment. I had to play this very strong, very demure guy – basically Mark Wahlberg. My character is supposed to be a silly action hero at this moment! Listen, I haven’t seen that, so I don’t know if I’ve ever pulled it off. But it was an important lesson learned, because, at times, it wasn’t about Earth a sign and surf that scene and more about Earth a sign, stand like this and watch my bulging biceps … it was a mistake and something I probably won’t do again. ”
Hopefully, that doesn’t mean the entire movie will be full of biceps and pangbang, but the focus should be more on the treasure hunt. Regardless, Hollande’s statement sounds a bit bad, but we keep our fingers crossed that this only applies to his efforts and not the entire movie.
In any case. The Uncharted movie is premiering within a year and before that an occasional teaser and trailer for the movie will be shown showing what the tone of the movie will be.
