Apple fans may have another reason to look forward IPhone 13As a new rumor raises the possibility that the upcoming device will finally have an always-on display among its features.
This comes from a Max Weinbach leak and is featured in this new video from everythingIt is a popular YouTube channel for news and rumors about Apple. The biggest of these leaks was that the iPhone 13 will finally be able to show off the Always-on function in the display.
The video also indicates that the screen will have a 120Hz LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) screen. This is the same type of screen used Apple WatchProducts mainly used to reduce battery usage.
What’s wrong with Always-on?
The screens that always work on a bunch of different Android phones have been around for a while already, but it took some time for Apple to jump in that direction. This function allows to keep the phone constantly active in a low power consumption mode thus information such as time, date, remaining battery time and notifications can be displayed.
The always-on technology works by illuminating only a number of pixels on the phone screen, which enables the device to keep the battery consumption as low as possible. This is useful, for example, if you want to be able to check the time quickly, without having to unlock your mobile phone.
It may not sound impressive when you first hear it, but it is really easy to be able to quickly glance at the phone screen to see a bunch of updates, a feature that Android users have appreciated for a long time previously.
Apple has used Always-on displays before, with the Apple Watch as the best example, but they have never chosen to implement the technology on their cell phones. At a time when many of us want to be able to check time on our cell phone screens, the always-on screen should be a normal thing for the iPhone 13.
As always with rumors like this, we recommend that you take the information with a pinch of salt. However, we believe that the time has come for the next Apple flagship to introduce a smooth and useful feature like the always-on display. The 120Hz screen was a nice bonus as well.
