Despite this epidemic, it doesn’t seem there was anything wrong with the desire to innovate in Sweden last year. Computer Sweden reported that last year 4,423 patents from Sweden were registered with the European Patent Office.
This is an increase of 0.6 percent for Swedish patents from the record level in 2019. As usual, Ericsson is the Swedish company that has registered the most patents in Sweden with the European Patent Office. Last year, that number dropped to 1,634 patents. Then comes Volvo with 294 patents and Electrolux with 118 patents.
The United States, with 44,293 patents registered with the European Patent Office, was the country from which most of the patents came. In the global list, Sweden ranks 14.
