Police searched Navalny’s home

Alexei Navalny is currently detained in Russia.

On Wednesday, a home search was conducted for the first time in Navalny’s apartment in the Margino district of Moscow, linked to an investigation into violations of the Coronavirus restrictions.

Later in the day, police raided the home of Navalny’s wife, Julia Navalneja, the opposition politician’s office and television studio. The news site writes Meduza.

Navalny is one of Vladimir Putin’s most outspoken critic, and has long been a nail in the president’s eye. Last summer, he was hospitalized after being poisoned with the novitjok neurotoxin. Then he was airlifted to Berlin, where he was taken care of until he returned to Russia two weeks ago.

Protests this weekend

Videos of the opposition politician about corruption in Russia have been viewed millions of times on YouTube. His recent work revolves around a luxurious villa that Vladimir Putin is alleged to own – something the president himself denies.

Navalny’s filming and arrest sparked violent protests in hundreds of Russian cities against the country’s regime last week. Several protesters carried a toilet brush – in a comment against supplying Putin’s house with a toilet brush for 8,000 kroner.

This weekend, new protests are expected in Russia.

All over Russia, people are protesting against the arrest of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
