Pianist Per Tengstrand with Nordica Cameras

One of Sweden’s most prominent pianists, Per Tungstrand, is a soloist during the upcoming concert series with the Nordic Cameras. – Per Tengstrand has played several times with Camerata Nordica and among other things has recorded several albums with Mozart’s piano concerts with us, says Zéphyrin Rey-Bellet, Camerata Nordica’s artistic director.

Per Tungstrand, who now lives in the USA, made his debut at the age of 12 with the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, and even then critics were fascinated by his interpretation and technique. When he completed his studies at the Paris Conservatory, he was awarded a Premier Prix and the public in the competition broke the 200-year-old ban on applause.

Per Tengstrand in recent years has achieved great success all over the world. After winning numerous international piano competitions, including the prestigious 1997 Cleveland Competition, he toured the United States, Japan, China, South America and most European countries. He also performed at the Chopin Festival in Warsaw and at the Rockefeller Center in New York. Bear achieved great success in the USA and played with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, led by Nim Yarvey, and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He was awarded the Medal of Honor by Steinway (“Nobel Prize for Pianists”) for his efforts in bringing classical music to new listeners. During the concert series, a chamber music version of Chopin’s first piano concerto will be played. Often referred to as “The Nordic Chopin,” E. Grieg has loved their origins and composed music reminiscent of their home countries.
