The State Department has appointed Passi Rajala as a press attaché at the Finnish Embassy in Washington. The position is for three years and will come into effect on June 1, 2021.
Rajala is currently working for government development funder Finnfund as Director of Communications. Rajala has over 20 years of experience in various communication assignments. Among other things, he has worked as the EU Prime Minister’s Expert, Communications Adviser and Communications Director at the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Development Programme. Bassi Rajala is a professor of politics.
“The United States is in many ways an important partner for Finland. That is why it is important that Finland’s voice be heard and that our knowledge is well known in the country. It is an honor to be able to tell Americans about Finland’s wonderful history,” says Rajala.
The Press Attaché is responsible for the Embassy’s external communications, social media and media relations. He is also responsible for the program on Finland for the United States Congress. Tasks also include working with Finland’s image, arranging visits for influencers, media coverage, and coordinating promotion and communication for Team Finland in Finland in the USA.
