Like Battlefield 2042 still suffers Somewhere in Hell between the “failed launch” and “everything that comes next”DICE developers are making minor tweaks to the game in order to keep things running smoothly. Although I can’t say I’m a huge fan of their latest effort.

When the game was launched, it was launched with a range of game modes, including outlet (Strange soup from the elderly battlefield custom games and rules) and some co-op items are a little small, but really, the main events—and highlights in the main menu under the big ALL-OUT WARFARE banner—were Conquest and Breakthrough.

Opening is your standard battlefield The mode, where players rush to grab and hold control points on the map, but hack was a more traditional type of warfare, with both sides simply heading into it on the map, concentrating their fire (and casualties) on the appropriate frontline. While the former lives on as the most popular way to play the game, the 128 player mode has now been removed from the game.

As DICE explains:

In this update, we are making several updates to the All-Out Warfare tournaments. Our groundbreaking change is to remove the 128-player version of Breakthrough. When reviewing the experiences available in All-Out Warfare, we felt that the 128 player modes are better suited for Conquest where the play spaces are larger, and where you have more sandbox play.

In Breakthrough’s 128 player mode, we feel that the value and influence of the single player and squad is reduced due to the increased intensity and chaos of combat.

I see what they mean, and I understand that they react to the concerns of many players, but I’m really upset because it was my favorite game mode. I loved the “intensity and chaos” of fighting, it Why do I play BattlefieldAnd every time I find myself on the front line with explosions resounding all around me, tanks and jets ablaze within meters of my position. I thought, damn yeah, that’s it exactly This type of battlefield An experience I’ve been waiting for for decades.

As I discovered in the months since launch, So many things I love Battlefield 2042 It’s the things that fans have been experiencing for a long time i hate itAnd so DICE has made the decision to limit Breakthrough mode to only the 64-player version, giving everyone more breathing room and running, especially since half of the maps will still be played on their 128-player versions.

As a result, teams in Breakthrough 64 have a better chance of working together, outflanking the enemy, placing a beacon spawn, using the plus menu to attach suppressors, then clearing, and holding a point—one squad helps turn the tide for example. We believe moving to 64 players will bring back the pace that helps celebrate moments of teamwork and PTFOing, and we will be watching closely how our changes help improve the experience before the start of Season 1.

So RIP, 128 player hack. It was my favorite mode of play, but the fact that I haven’t been able to play a game on Australian servers for several months – because no one else wants to play – probably indicates that DICE is responding to players who have more widespread opinions about this game than mine.
